Songfacts®:

  • "Positive" is from the stage adaptation of Legally Blonde. Like the rest of the score, it was written by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, a husband-and-wife team. Both contributed to the music and lyrics.

After being booted out of his class by Professor Callahan on her first day at Harvard at the end of "Blood In The Water," Elle is given some advice by Emmett Forrest then runs into Warner again, who by now has a new girlfriend, the fellow student responsible for her mishap. Before she can throw herself to the floor and weep in despair, she is visited by a Greek chorus of her girlfriends, who urge her to stay positive, hence the title of this well choreographed song. >>>
