Songfacts®:

  • Running to nearly five and a half minutes, "The Verdict", like "London Road In Bloom" and all the other songs from the musical London Road, has music by Adam Cork and lyrics by him and Alecky Blythe based on verbatim conversations. On February 21, 2008, Steve Wright is convicted on all 5 counts of murder at Ipswich Crown Court. Another discordant cacophony of male and female voices comment on the end of the proceedings - barring the sentencing the following day and Wright's unsuccessful appeals. In view of the weight of evidence against him, this was a foregone conclusion. >>>
