Songfacts®:

  • Duets between men and women, buddies or girlfriends, are not a rarity in musicals, but there can't be many between a shop assistant and a singing plant. "Feed Me (Git It)" is a first; written by lyricist Howard Ashman and composer Alan Menken for their adaptation of the 1960 Roger Corman film The Little Shop Of Horrors, it is sung in the 1986 film version by the hapless shop assistant Seymour, played by Rick Moranis, and the plant, which was voiced by Levi Stubbs (1936-2008) of The Four Tops.

This is a seduction type song with a difference; the plant offers Seymour anything he wants, all he has to do in return is supply it with fresh human blood. >>>
