  • Brit-school alumna Cat Burns began her music career aged 16 with her debut project, Adolescent. During lockdown, the South Londoner started posting a mix of her favorite covers and original songs on TikTok, and within a few months she'd gathered hundreds of thousands of followers. Burns' success on the platform led to her being signed by RCA Records. She released this single on July 31, 2020.
  • The heartfelt song finds Burns singing of the end of a relationship after she caught her lover with another girl. The gay singer angrily addresses her girlfriend, telling her to pack up her things "and go go go go go go go." Burns penned the tune after hearing of a friend's relationship troubles. "I was like, 'How would I react if I was cheated on,'" she told Apple Music.
  • Cat Burns wrote the song with singer-songwriter George Morgan and producer Jonah PH (Giggs' "Im Workin,'" Wale's "JUNE 5th / QueenZnGodZ"). "We had about 74 million versions of this song," said Burns. "It went from having loads of production and an intense beat to us completely stripping it back. Then it was acoustic, but the tempo wasn't right."

    Burns finally went for an understated acoustic pop track that would highlight the pain-filled lyrics.
  • After initially revealing the song on TikTok, Burns featured in an Instagram Live session with H.E.R. where the two sang "Go" together.
  • Cat Burns released several remixes of the song including one featuring Sam Smith. She also tapped rappers Loski and Russ Millions for the "Go (Drill Remix)."
  • Cat Burns penned "Go" about a breakup a close friend went through. "The song is about being betrayed and finally finding out that the person who should love you the most breaks your trust and completely ruins the relationship," she told Dork. "It's not a mean or ill-wishing song; it's a song about realization but also disbelief at the same time."
