Songfacts®:

  • "Showtime" is the first single released by Catfish and the Bottlemen since their 2019 album, The Balance. It marks their return after a couple of lineup changes (bye-bye guitarist Johnny Bond and drummer Bob Hall) and taking a well-deserved break.

The song is a battle cry about living in the moment and grabbing opportunities by the horns. They're "back to the graft" and realize what truly matters is "making tracks again."
  • Remember Catfish's "Soundcheck" from 2016's The Ride? "Showtime" tackles similar themes – the juggling act of touring, creating music, and maintaining personal lives.
  • Frontman Van McCann collaborated with producer Dave Sardy (Oasis, LCD Soundsystem, The Rolling Stones) to create "Showtime." The song combines rock and folk elements, showcasing the band's signature sound.
