Songfacts®:

  • In September 2015, Chance's girlfriend, Kirsten, gave birth to his first child, Kinsley. This gospel-inspired track finds Chance thanking the Lord for his many blessings, including his daughter and success as an artist.
  • Chance croons the hook with vocalist and poet Jamila Woods. This marks the second collaboration between the pair, with the first being Surf's "Sunday Candy."
  • The final hook includes an interpolation of Contemporary gospel singer Fred Hammond's 1998 track, "Let the Praise Begin."
  • Chance reprises the song at the end of Coloring Book. Asked during a Reddit AMA why there are two songs titled "Blessings," Chance replied: "Blessings are kind of one thing on the album, they both are meant to prepare you for your day and your blessing."
