Songfacts®:

  • This song came to Charli XCX in near-completed form from her close friend Justin Raisen, who has also worked with Sky Ferreira, Tegan and Sara and Theophilus London. "That's something that I would never usually do," she told Rolling Stone, "take a song that's basically almost been written for me, but it was a song that Justin made, and I was like, f--k, this song is so good and it feels like it's about me."

After being presented with the song by Raisen, Charli decided to do up the punk vibe, making it sound like "future Ramones."
