Songfacts®:

  • Charli originally penned this track with Emeli Sandé collaborator Naughty Boy. The songstress couldn't figure out how to get the tune right for her purposes, until she got American hitmaker Benny Blanco to help her. Charli explained to Digital Spy: "The original version was like super-different; it was much more like those classic Naughty Boy drums. Those sounds were very organic and it was very pretty, you know, which isn't my style."

"I really wanted it to feel like the drums could kind of sound like, this is gonna sound like a silly reference, 'Sleigh Bells-lite' or something, so I wanted Benny to toughen it up and make it like this plastic pop thing rather than something that was in Naughty Boy's kind of world."
