Songfacts®:

  • Here, Chase & Status link up with vocalist Clementine Douglas. She sings of a relationship that started off well, but now her lover is giving her "mixed emotions." Douglas fears her man has gone cold on her, but he still lights her fire and she can't walk away.
  • Clementine Douglas established herself as one of the UK dance world's go-to writer-singers in the early 2020s. Her other credits include collaborations with Sonny Fodera ("Wide Awake"), Wilkinson ("Cognition") and Shane Codd ("Love Me Or Let Me Go").
  • The soulful piano-driven track harks back to the early '90s when the UK rave scene was largely driven by jungle music. Jungle is viewed as the originating point for the drum and bass genre that emerged in the mid-'90s. "With Clem's nostalgic vocals, this track really captures the euphoria and energy of that time and takes us to a place where we feel most familiar," Saul "Chase" Milton told Apple Music.
  • "Mixed Emotions" became Chase & Status' first UK Top 75 hit since "All Goes Wrong" peaked at #65 six years earlier.
