Songfacts®:

  • This the only track on Closer To The Truth that Cher was involved in writing. The singer originally penned it with Canadian songwriter Shirley Eikhard (Bonnie Rait, Anne Murray) for the 1994 film adaptation of Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire. "They didn't love it and there were no other vampire outlets then, so I held it," Cher explained to USA Today. The "Believe" songstress added that she seldom records her own material because "it's moody and introspective, a bit dark and very personal. I write about Kurt Cobain's death and homeless people. It's not for everybody."
