Songfacts®:

  • "Treat Me" is an empowering dance-pop song where Chlöe gives a warning to a lover who isn't putting in the work. She warns him he'd better step up his game as she won't put up with anyone in her life who doesn't treat her right.
  • Chlöe drew inspiration from a breakup. "I was getting out of a relationship, and I was just really feeling like I shouldn't have to tell someone what I need," she told the People Every Day podcast. "It's time for me to just give myself the love that I'm looking for."
  • So who is the ex that didn't show Chlöe sufficient respect? Her rumored past boyfriends include:

    Chlöe's Grown-ish co-star Diggy Simmons
    Dutch footballer Memphis Depay
    Rappers Jack Harlow and Future
Chloe's most recent relationship prior to the release of "Treat Me" was with another rapper, Gunna

Anyone of these famous names may be the dude she is dissing.
  • Chlöe and producer Warren "Oak" Felder borrow the "booty, booty, booty, booty, rockin' everywhere" hook from Bubba Sparxxx and the Ying Yang Twins' 2005 hip-hop song "Ms. New Booty."
  • Chlöe and Oak wrote the soulful song with Alex Niceforo, Keith Sorrells and Caroline Ailin. The writers of "Ms. New Booty" - Ying Yang Twins, Mr. Collipark and Bubba Sparxxx - also get credited.
  • The racy Diana Kunst-directed music video finds Chlöe seductively performing the track in several scenes. Beyonce's mom Tina Knowles Lawson, actor Rome Flynn, British rapper Bree Runway, and "Have Mercy" producer Murda Beatz all cameo in the clip.
