Songfacts®:

  • This song was inspired by the questions Rea's 6-year-old daughter, Josephine, would ask him. She was horrified when a news report came on about unrest in South Africa that showed a man being burned alive. Josephine began asking questions like "what is heaven?" In this song, Rea helps her cope by assuring her that there is indeed a heaven, even though it doesn't explain the atrocities that happen around the world on a daily basis.
