From 1993-1994 she was a member of The All-New Mickey Mouse Club along with Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. This was a great entertainment training ground and gave her an in with Disney. When she was 17, she sang on the soundtrack of the Disney movie Mulan.
Among the backstage demands at her early concerts: four candles, a tray of organic vegetables, chocolate Nesquik, and a bottle of Flintstones vitamins.
She won the 1999 Grammy for Best New Artist, beating Britney Spears.
In 2001, Aguilera completely changed her image. She began "doing her own thing," adding a lot more hip-hop and a lot less pop. Her hairstyle changed, and she even managed to change her voice to sound more like a rapper.
She married the music marketer Jordan Bratman in November, 2005. They met when he was working at her record label. Christina opted to donate the majority of her wedding gifts to charities supporting victims of Hurricane Katrina.

She filed for divorce from Bratman on October 14, 2010 and it was finalized on April 15, 2011.
Aguilera gave birth to her son, Max Liron Bratman, in Los Angeles on January 12, 2008. Bratman is of Jewish descent, so the baby was circumcised in accordance with Jewish practice.
Christina is half-Ecuadorian because of her soldier father, Fausto Wagner Xavier Aguilera. Her parents divorced when she was six and she was raised by her Spanish teacher mom Shelly.
She recorded an entirely Spanish-language album, Mi Reflejo, which won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Album in 2001.
Christina made her national television debut at the age of nine on Star Search singing "A Sunday Kind of Love." She finished runner-up in the competition.
She has a number of tattoos, including "Xtina" on the back of her neck, a Hebrew psalm lyric ("I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine") on her lower back and "Te Amo Siempre" ("I love you, always") on her left elbow.
Aguilera had a cameo part in the animated DreamWorks movie Shark Tale voicing a jellyfish named Christina.
She became the global spokesperson for World Hunger Relief in 2009, featuring in advertisements, online campaigns and a public service announcement.
Aguilera met Matthew Rutler, an executive at online-education platform MasterClass, on the set of the movie-musical Burlesque in 2010; she was starring in the film and he was a production assistant. They got engaged in February 2014.
She enjoys domestic life. "When I'm onstage, there's not a bigger high, when I'm in connection with my voice and my heart and my soul," Aguilera told Billboard. "But at the end [of a performance], I want to wipe it all off, get in my sweatpants, make silly noises with my kids and have someone comfort and cuddle me."
Aguilera told Paper magazine her go-to films are ones that are "mood-driven and inspiring," like Frida, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, Amadeus, Elizabeth and Basquiat.
