  • When in July 2020, Christina Perri announced she was expecting her second child with her husband, comedian Paul Costabile, the couple was overjoyed. But in her third trimester, Perri was hospitalized with pregnancy complications. The singer gave birth to a stillborn baby, Rosie, on November 23. Rosie was the second baby Perri had lost, having suffered a miscarriage 11 months earlier.

Here, Perri reflects on how although Rosie didn't make it into this world alive, she isn't "evergone," as she will stay forever in her hopes and dreams. "When I lost my daughter, I decided that she was going to live with me in my heart, in my breath, in my every moment. This is what I'm singing about, and it really helped me," she said.
  • The song helped Perri with the healing process. "It was so authentically sort of put in my life at a time where I wasn't even sure I was going to do this album or go back to work," she told ABC Audio. "I was in... like, a grief house is kind of what I call it... and I sort of stumbled upon this song."
  • On November 24, 2021, the first anniversary of Rosie's death, Perri released her fourth album, Songs for Rosie. The record contains lullabies and tribute songs for her late daughter.
  • Christina Perri wrote "Evergone" for her fifth album with:

Jennifer Decilveo (Andra Day's "Rise Up," Anne-Marie's "Ciao Adios," Demi Lovato's "I Love Me"). She also produced the track.

Jason Bell and Jordan Miller (Bang Bang Romeo's "Shame On You," Maddie Poppe's "Little Things").
