I had been reading the book Hinds Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard in an effort to get some insight with my own with fear. And I prayed, 'Lord, when will I be free of this sense of dread, of fear?' I started humming the tune and the words followed: The mountains are steep and the valleys low."
• Karla Faye Tucker, a convicted murderer who had become a committed Christian whilst on death row, asked for this song to be played before she became the first woman executed in Texas since the Civil War.
