Songfacts®:

  • Released in November 1962, this lightly orchestrated ballad was written by Buddy Kaye and Philip Springer; it was the A-side of the uptempo "Bachelor Boy." Both songs were used in the 1963 musical Summer Holiday - a vehicle for Cliff.

Alas, there never was a next time for Cliff, and in one sense there never was a first time, because he never married, as evinced by the B-side, which he co-wrote. >>>
