Songfacts®:

  • Richard commented on this song to the Mail on Sunday November 2, 2008: "It was released at a time when I was getting over Elvis and trying to find my own voice, rather than trying to sound like him. He had this fabulous, gentle, way of singing - a 'no projection' voice - and I had a lot of success with it. It's the same style I used on 'I'm Looking Out The Window' and even 'Miss You Nights' many years later."
  • This song was used as the closing theme to Cliff Richard's BBC TV series.
  • The song reached #1 in several countries, including Israel, Malaysia and Singapore.
  • This was songwriter Paul Ferris' biggest hit. He also provided the scores for various British horror films during the late 1960s and early 1970s, including Blood Beast Terror, The Creeping Flesh, and Witchfinder General.
