  • Cody Simpson & The Tide released their first video for this song. "We're stoked to share our first visual as a band," Cody Simpson told Billboard magazine. "'Waiting For The Tide' is an introduction into our view for the world. An instruction on joining us in our vision for the future, a return to primitivism."
  • During the song, Cody Simpson reflects on humanity's attitude towards environmental issues, He told Artist Direct: "'Waiting for the Tide' was a poem with undertones about sea level rise and things like that and so I kind of twisted that into the song. I guess it's about hiding the medicine in the candy in a way. A lot of people have done it. I take a lot from people like Bob Marley on that kind of stuff because you can sort of get away with listening to it in a light floaty manner, or you can listen to the lyrics and realize there is a much more serious undertone to it."
