Songfacts®:

  • This song is Cody Simpson's upbeat ode to a "happy little hippie" that he once met. "I wrote the song about a girl I met on the street in Venice Beach," he told Billboard magazine. "She had this whole bohemian look to her. After sharing some conversation with her, I realized that we shared a lot of the same views on life, and on the world."

"She was so non-conformist and so happy, and just lived her life the way she wanted to," he added.
  • A hippie (or hippy) is a member of a subculture that emerged in San Francisco during the Summer of Love in 1997. Hippies were peaceful anarchists with a care for the environment and a fondness for recreational drugs, rock music, beads, long hair and flowery clothes. during the Summer of Love in 1997. The values of the movement are to some extent maintained by new age travelers and rainbow family groups.

The word 'hippie' probably comes from 'hip,' which was originally a 1940s African American jive slang term meant, "sophisticated; currently fashionable; fully up-to-date."

Here is a list of hippie anthems.
