Songfacts®:

  • During the writing of The Color Before the Sun, Coheed frontman Claudio Sanchez found himself struggling with several issues including an identity crisis, his upcoming fatherhood and a move back to his country home, which had been turned by its tenants into a cannabis farm. The album's closing track finds him coming to the acceptance of life on its own terms.

Sanchez explained to TeamRock: "This song is the resolve. It's coming to accept everything. At the time I wrote it we were returning back to the country, and it was like we'd come full circle. We'd left and experienced everything that we could, and then we went back to the peace and quiet of the mountain. And that's pretty much it. This song is really a recount of my personality and who I am, and my obsessions with time and death, and I think it all resonates pretty well in the song."
