Songfacts®:

  • The album version of this song is titled "Bleed." It was released as the fourth single from the album on September 11, 2001, the day The World Trade Center was attacked by terrorists. Understandably, radio stations were very skittish about playing anything that could be considered offensive, so Cold quickly pulled the single and re-titled it "Thirteen," named because it is the 13th song on the album.
  • This song is about the dedication musicians have to their craft - music is the blood that keeps them alive.
  • Aaron Lewis, the lead singer from Staind, sang backup on this track.
