Songfacts®:

  • This mid-tempo love song was penned by Cole Swindell with Brandon Kinney and Jeremy Stover. It finds the singer driving his truck with his girl beside him and the radio on.

Keep turning it up and turning me on
You're a rockstar girl and I'm singing along
It's like you know what you're doing to me
    Every time you press play
Yeah, you got me fallen in love my little Chevrolet DJ

Swindell's girl is operating the radio and the "little Chevrolet DJ" is turning him on.
  • The song was included on Swindell's Down Home Sessions III EP thanks to a special request from a loyal supporter. "There's [one song] in particular called "Chevrolet DJ" that some fan found on YouTube a couple years ago, and it's been blowing up ever since," the singer noted. "It's never been on an album. So I said, 'Hey, why don't we go back and take some of these songs that were written a while back, and since it's for the fans, they picked it; that's their pick.'"
  • Louis Chevrolet and ousted General Motors founder William C. Durant started the Chevrolet Motor Car Company on November 3, 1911. Other songs featuring a Chevy include:

"Bed of My Chevy" by Justin Moore

    "Chevy Van" by Sammy Johns

"Racing In The Street" by Bruce Springsteen (about a small-time drag racer who drives a 69 Chevy).

"Night Moves" by Bob Seger (About a young couple losing their virginity in a Chevy).

"American Pie" by Don McLean (He sings of driving "my Chevy to the levee").

"Little Red Corvette" by Prince (The first Corvette rolled off the Chevrolet assembly line in Flint, Michigan on June 30, 1953. That early 'Vette' sold for $3,250).

"409" by The Beach Boys (The song describes the Chevrolet 409).

"Camaro" by Kings Of Leon (The Chevrolet Camaro was introduced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors on September 29, 1966 as a competitor to the Ford Mustang.)

"Red Camaro" by Keith Urban (a tribute to a red-colored Chevrolet Camaro).
