Colt Ford

Colt Ford Artistfacts

  • August 27, 1970
  • Ford is a country artist who is really more of a rapper - his bass player Paul Chapman and guitarists Spencer Bassett and Mark Easterling typically handle the traditional singing parts. Ford says he was influenced by Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings when he was growing up, but also by Run-D.M.C.
  • Many of his songs have a party theme; he calls himself "Mr. Goodtime" and has released videos under the "Mr. Goodtime TV" moniker.
  • Ford co-wrote the #1 Country hits "Dirt Road Anthem" (Jason Aldean) and "Country Must Be Country Wide" (Brantley Gilbert).
  • Like many rappers, Ford uses a variety of guest singers on his tracks. Among the artists to appear on his songs: Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, Lee Brice, Jake Owen and Jerrod Niemann.
  • Ford runs his own record label, Average Joes Entertainment, with producer Shannon Houchins. Since he's releasing his own material, there's no record company executive trying to steer him toward a hit. In our 2015 interview with Ford, he said: "I've been lucky and blessed to not have to record something that I didn't like."
  • Colt Ford nearly died after suffering a heart attack on April 4, 2024 after a show in Gilbert, Arizona. He ended up in a coma for eight days, followed by two months of rehab. There was an upside: it broke him of his junk food habit and convinced him to slim down and prioritize his health.
