Songfacts®:

  • This is about Courtney Barnett's first trip overseas. She explained to Nothing But Hope and Passion: "I was in New York and couldn't sleep for days. I had really bad insomnia. It was the first time I was doing shows over there and I was really nervous. I was really missing my girlfriend back home. That's mostly what the song is about."
  • Barnett's partner is Adelaide singer-songwriter Jen Cloher. As well as being romantically involved, the pair also run her label Milk Records together. Barnett told Interview magazine: "Jen Cloher has become the brains behind the whole thing. She makes cool things happen now - I just do the artwork and get all the credit."
