Songfacts®:

  • This is the fourth single from Country music artist Craig Morgan's fifth studio album That's Why. It is only available on later presses of the record. Morgan told the Idaho Press-Tribune that the original release contained ten songs that his record label loved, but shortly afterward he was in the studio doing demos he'd written. They included "Bonfire" and this song. Said Morgan: "I recorded 'Bonfire' and 'This Ain't Nothin'' thinking we'd put them on the next record, and they liked them so much they pulled all the records back that hadn't been sold and swapped out these two songs with two others and re-issued the record."
  • Chris DuBois and Kerry Kurt Phillips wrote the song, which tells the emotional story of an elderly man whose home has just been destroyed by a tornado. The man explains to reporter that having lost during his life a father, his baby brother, a best friend, and, most recently, his wife of fifty years, losing a house "ain't nothin'" by comparison.
  • This won the gong for Best Mainstream Inspirational Song at the 2010 Inspirational Country Music Awards. Morgan also picked up the prize for Mainstream Country Artist of the Year at the same ceremony.
