Songfacts®:

  • Country rocker Craig Wayne Boyd grew up in Texas and moved to Nashville at the age of 25 to pursue his career in music. He spent the next decade playing over a thousand shows as he struggled to make a name for himself. Boyd's big break came about in December 2014 when he won Season 7 of The Voice as a part of Blake Shelton's team. He was the third country singer to win the NBC TV singing competition.
  • Boyd introduced this love song during his final performance on The Voice. He was given the tune by Blake Shelton, who had contemplated recording it himself, before handing it over to his team member. "I haven't been that nervous about a performance on this show maybe ever. Maybe since I've been doing this as a coach," Shelton said after Boyd's rendition. "That song was meant for you. It found its way to you."
  • The song was written by Vietnam War veteran Mark Marchetti. It was the first high profile cut for the Southern West Virginia native.
  • This debuted at #1 on the country chart. Boyd was only the second artist to have a single launch at peak position following Garth Brooks' "More Than a Memory" in September 2007.
