  • This song features the lyric, "Time, you're no friend of mine." Frontman Scott Stapp explained to Spin magazine that he is referring to a period when he made a series of infantile errors, which resulted in some serious consequences including the band splitting up in 2004. He added: "I can't take it back. If I could do it all again from the middle of 2002 to November of 2006, I would."
  • Stapp identified to Spin three particular mistakes he'd love to go back in time and wipe from history:
    (1) Taking critics too seriously. "Early on there were a few mischaracterisations of the band," he reflected. "Being young and stupid we took a lot of things personally. We carried it on our shoulders into interviews and probably came across as pretentious and combative, instead of who we really were. All it did was have a spiraling, negative effect."
    (2) The 45-minute sex tape with several groupies that he and Kid Rock recorded, which was stolen and publicized. He said: "We were in Tampa playing with Metallica. I went into his trailer and there were some strippers. It's a time in his life and a time in my life we'd like to put behind us - we have children now, they're in school and their friends read. I know he was pi--ed off at me. I did apologize that I hadn't just burnt the tape, but we haven't sat down face-to-face since. I thought it was a skeleton in the closet that would never find the light of day."
    (3) Stapp wishes now that the band's videos had been more about the music than about him taking his shirt off. Citing the example of Higher, he said: "We look back at a lot our videos with a kind of, 'What were we thinking?'"

  • Scott Falcon from KansasIm a Rock guitarist in my mid fifties. Because of Creeds popularity in USA I heard their airplayed hits. I am a self proclaimed progressive guitarist so I was very picky to who I purchased and listened to. It was until this year the end of 2020 with Covid- 19 having its affect on everyone's life that I was forced to look at myself who I am which affected my listening choices. I went from if your band wasnt toteing a Steve Vai or Joe Satriani I probably didn't know your music well. I want to say that Creed has opened my eyes to music in a very real way, and after reading what the Lead man said with many of his songs with Time being a profound song has became the threshold to my life because music is the way I have chose to filter the world around me, in many ways, by how I view myself and how I view others primarily. I have experienced things during and after COVID-19 that helped me see I was in great need of growing as a man and as a neighbor to my fellow man. I started listenning to music in a way that although it is still my filter and means Very much to me I must be the Master of my ego and be concerned with how I affect OTHERS. Somehow CREED spoke to me in a very profound way and the changes im making and goals im working towards is geared to be to the benefit of others and trying to be not so. Concerned about how I look to others or myself when I know intellectually Im on the right track, when I know what the right decisions are, and regardless of what it costs or how it affects me to comply. CREED thank you for holding an integrity with your music somehow all of you managed to pull that off whether it sounds right or not and especially since you never know how another human will be affected by what they hear from you. You gave me a tremendous gift. Thank you..
