• The two first met when they both attended school in Paris, France, in 1987. In 1992, together with their friend Laurent Brancowitz, they recorded an Indie Rock song under the name "Darlin'" (after the Beach Boys' song), which in turn found its way onto a compilation issued on Stereolab's Duophonic label. An English music journalist from Melody Maker dubbed the music as "a bunch of daft punks."

• Bangalter's father, French songwriter Daniel Vangarde, wrote and produced the hit singles "D.I.S.CO." for Ottawan and "Cuba" for the Gibson brothers.
• They've been working under the Daft Punk moniker since 1993 and took the name from a review by Melody Maker that described their song "Cindy, So Loud" as "daft punky thrash."
• EDM musician Skrillex told New York writer Zach Baron that seeing Daft Punk perform in Los Angeles in 2007 "is when I realized I really wanted to make dance music."
• Their first album was called Homework because they recorded it in Bangalter's home studio.
• Bangalter's 1998 single, "Music Sounds Better With You," was a breakout for his side project, Stardust.
• Random Access Memories was Daft Punk's most successful album to date, hitting the #1 spot on digital charts in 97 countries, and achieving the biggest first week album sales in France since 2007.
• In 2010 the Daft Punk duo composed and released the soundtrack to the film Tron; Legacy.
• The Daft Punk duo have worn ornate helmets to assume robot personas in most of their public appearances since 2001. The headgear features intricate displays capable of displaying text, and syncing images and patterns to music. They are said to have cost $65,000 to produce.
