  • Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney got married within six months of each other in 2017 and the pair took inspiration for this love ballad from their nuptials. "I had this title 'Speechless' in my phone - you're at the altar waiting for your bride to walk down the aisle, then that moment happens and you have nothing to say," Smyers recalled to People. "I remember being up there on our wedding day – May 13, just a little over a year ago – and she walked up and I was at a loss for words."
  • Smyer's marriage to Abby Law took place in May of 2017, and Mooney tied the knot with Hannah Billingsley in October of 2017. The song's music clip features video footage from the pair's real-life weddings.

"When it came time to do the video and given the fact that we had both had weddings the year before, I was like, 'Man, maybe this video is already done,'" Smyers said. "I had the crazy idea of taking Shay and my wedding footage [and] parallel those stories to showcase the moments."
  • Dan + Shay wrote the song with Jordan Reynolds and Laura Veltz. Reynolds also helped the duo write their hit single "Tequila," while Veltz co-penned their Kelly Clarkson-featuring cut "Keeping Score."
  • This song gave Dan + Shay their first Country #1 single. Their previous best chart placing had been "Tequila," which peaked at #2.
  • This won for Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the Grammy Awards in 2020.
