Songfacts®:

  • "All Kinds Of Everything" is a list song in the fashion of Cole Porter's "Let's Do It," although it is more sloppy sentimental than light-hearted and witty. Written by Derry Lindsay and Jackie Smith and recorded by Dana, it won the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest which was held in the Netherlands, scoring 32 points out of only 12 entries. The single was released on the Decca label backed by "Channel Breeze."
  • After a fairly successful recording career, Dana Rosemary Scallon went into politics, but nearly three decades later wearing her musical hat she counselled against her country entering "Irelande Douze Pointes" for the 2007 contest. She was not heeded, but fortunately Dustin The Turkey failed to qualify. >>>

  • Dial-a-disc was a service ran in the UK by the GPO (now British Telecom) enabling callers to listen to a song down a telephone line. This was the first record to be played on Dial-a-disc.
  • This not only came #1 in the United Kingdom, it also topped the charts in South Africa and Australia.
  • Dana was aged 18 and still at school when this won the Eurovision Song Contest. She recalled in 1000 UK #1 Hits by Jon Kutner and Spencer Leigh: "I remember thinking it was pretty and I liked it very much as it had a folky quality about it."
