  • Like a dirty stain that just won't fade away, Danielle Cormier can't get the memory of her ex out of her head. "'Can't Quit You' is about an 'almost/what if' relationship," she told Songfacts. "It was one of those bad timing relationships where a month after we met, he moved away and then soon after, I moved to Nashville. But I couldn't get him out of my head. The memories we shared, wondering what he was doing now, and all the possibilities of what could have been."
  • Cormier attended the Dramatic Academy in New York City, but chose Nashville over Broadway when it came time to make her mark. Her debut EP, Casino Sessions, was released in 2016. Fire & Ice is her first full-length album, with "Can't Quit You" the first single.
  • Thanks to serendipity, Peter Frampton played guitar on this track. Cormier told us the story: "It was one of those songs you hear about that just comes out. I think I wrote it in a day. It felt really good to write, the first song after moving to Nashville. Little did I know it was the first song I was writing for Fire & Ice. We recorded with my producer, Adam Lester, in Franklin, starting with the vocals and a guitar track. Then a few days later we went into the studio with the musicians and did a live recording of the track which is what you hear on the album. Soon after, Adam left on tour - he plays guitar in Peter Frampton's band. While on tour, Peter Frampton heard the song while Adam was working on it in the tour bus and asked to contribute guitar to the track. One night unexpectedly, Adam sent me the song with Peter's solo on it and I was just so excited, my jaw dropped. His solo is the perfect addition to the song."
