Songfacts®:

  • This is the debut solo single by N-Dubz rapper Dappy. The London native said of the song: "It's saying I'm moving on with no regrets and not crying over yesterday." The single was officially released on September 18, 2011 ahead of his debut solo album.
  • Dappy namechecks a host of celebrities in the track, including Kate and Pippa Middleton, Kurt Cobain, and Liam Gallagher.
  • Dappy filmed the video in Los Angeles, which features his N-Dubz bandmate Fazer playing the piano.
  • This was Dappy's second UK #1 single. He previously hit the top spot as a featured artist on Tinchy Stryder's 2009 accurately titled hit "Number 1."
  • The song finds Dappy admitting to his failings in his past and professing to be a changed man despite singing the song's title as a way of distancing himself. He also namechecks Chris Brown ("I messed my life up, yeah I've been down/ I'm a changed man now, Chris Brown/Ya know I feel your pain 'cos I done been through it."). When asked by The Guardian why he cited the disgraced R&B star as an example of someone who has changed his ways, he replied that "it just went with the rhyme".
  • The song's elevation to pole position was the eleventh successive UK #1 by a British artist. This beat the all-time record set between January and July 1963, when there were 10 consecutive chart-toppers by a domestic act. The following week the Brit domination was ended when Spanish DJ Sak Noel replaced Dappy at the summit with "Loca People."
