Songfacts®:

  • This is the second single from Rhythm n' Blues artist Darryl Moore's debut album, Where I'm At. Moore explained that the song is the story of a life in ruins, ruled by dope and desperation. "The message of this song is that substance abuse can attack even the best of us, even if we are honor roll students with bright futures," he said. "It's our surroundings; the enemy is on the rise and his poison has destroyed our minds and our children's."
  • Moore described the song's creation, "Ivan Johnson produced the music and I heard crying in the melody. Because I'd written the song prior to hearing the music, I'd thought it would be a perfect match."
