Songfacts®:

  • "Be On Your Way" is the contemplative and moody first single from Daughter's third album, Stereo Mind Game. The press release describes the album as their "most optimistic" yet.

Stereo Mind Game marks the band's first longplayer since Not to Disappear in 2016, though they did release the soundtrack Music from Before the Storm for a video game in 2017.
  • I have a feeling
    That we'll repeat this evening
    So be on your way
    Be on your way

Singer and multi-instrumentalist Elena Tonra wrote the lyrics about a person she met in California while working on Stereo Mind Game. The two shared a strong connection, but she knew that the distance across the Atlantic would keep them apart.

Though the premise may seem sad, Tonra chooses to not dwell on it, instead recognizing that they shared something beautiful and that there is always the possibility of it happening again in the future.
  • Tonra wrote "Be On Your Way" with the other two band members, multi-instrumentalist Igor Haefeli and drummer Remi Aguilella. Torna and Haefeli produced the track themselves. On Daughter's previous album, Not to Disappear, Haefeli shared production duties with Nicolas Vernhes (Deerhunter's Monomania, Atlas Sound's Parallax).
  • The song's music video, created by Tiff Pritchett, superimposes shots of Tonra singing over visually stunning imagery of natural beauty such as birds, flowers, and other natural elements. According to the press release, the visual "evokes a collection of memories."
