Songfacts®:

  • David Zowie is an English DJ who hails from Chatham in Kent. The musician's love of mixing started at the age of 12, when he was given his first pair of SL12 10 Technics Twin DJ Decks.
  • This song started off as a warm-up track that floated around clubs and events where he was DJing in 2014. Zowie told DMC World: "The track was an embryo I made in the studio. It was played at a house party with friends. They had it on repeat for a couple of hours! A DJ who was at the party then asked for a copy and played it out. That led to others asking for the track. Annie Mac, Pete Tong and The Magician picked up on it. The rest is history."
  • The song's music video was directed by Joe Alexander (Tinie Tempah's "Not Letting Go"). The clip shines a light on an underground dance scene in which the dancers are also known as foot shufflers.
  • David Zowie became the first artist to earn a #1 on the Official UK Singles Chart after its move from Sunday to a Friday slot. The song leapt from #52 to #1 on the July 10, 2015 listing.
