Songfacts®:

  • Deap Vally are a Los Angeles Rock duo consisting of guitarist and vocalist Lindsey Troy and drummer Julie Edwards. The pair first met at a needlework class in 2011 and bonding over their shared frustrations as struggling artists and love for the blues, they decided to work together. This was released as their first single on Ark Recordings in July 2012.
  • Julie Edwards told NME about the song: "Lindsey wrote most of the lyrics on that one, and they're very literal. Her dad always said to her, 'You're gonna have to find somebody rich to marry, keep an eye out.' And she just feels and I feel, like, why do we have to do that?"
