  • "Put Some South in Your Mouth" is the first track on DEC3's 2014 debut self-titled album. The record was already mastered and finished when DEC3's guitarist, Jon Haber, wrote the sexually suggestive song about a month before the release. In our interview with the mastermind of the band, Jon Haber revealed why he included the last minute tune, "I had written this song that I thought would be a great album opener so we rushed recorded that and put it on."
  • When Haber was jogging one day, he ran by a rib joint with the name "Put Some South In Your Mouth." He thought that would be an excellent title for a tune so he turned around right away and ran back home to write it. "I pretty much became the song," explained Haber. "It's a riff song. It's fast. It's upbeat. It just kicks ass and that's a great way to open the record."
  • After Haber wrote the song, he discovered that there are numerous other ones with the same title. "What's funny is that they all are the first song on the record, which I found unusual. Everyone starts the record like that, but they're all about putting food in your mouth and eating your mother's potatoes."

Haber decided to add a twist to the lyrics by also giving them a sexually charged meaning. "There's so many double entendres you can use in that title and I decided to go that route," he said.
