Songfacts®:

  • Dee Snider made some pretty heavy metal with Twisted Sister, but not this heavy. Produced by Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed, "Lies Are A Business" is more thrash, with rapid-fire drums and even some growling. Jasta convinced Snider to make the For The Love Of Metal album after having him as a guest on his podcast. When they decided to do it, various members of the metal community offered to join in, including Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy, Mark Morton of Lamb Of God, and Charlie Bellmore of Kingdom Of Sorrow, all of whom guest on the album.
  • In a track-by-track interview for Songfacts, Snider explained the meaning behind this song. "While I'm not actively political, I do have some things to say about the state of politics," he said. "Not only in my country, but internationally. What's happening in the United States is being reflected in countries all over the world. People are tired of 'politics as usual' and looking for virtually anything (and usually getting just that) to change things up. 'Lies Are A Business' is an observation about the pervasiveness of misinformation we all have to suffer through, and it is coming from all sides. It sucks."
