  • When Descendents frontman Milo Aukerman sings, "I wanna be a clone, I want a suburban home," it sure sounds like he's being sarcastic, but the song is actually sincere.

It was written by their bass player, Tony Lombardo, who was a lot older than the other guys in the group and at times craved a laid-back, comfortable life in suburbia, as he was aging out of the punk rock scene.

"He wrote that really unironically," Aukerman told Songfacts in 2025. "No tongue-in-cheek at all - he really wanted it."

"That was a funny twist on the whole idea, because, of course, people would hear it and be like, 'Oh, he's dissing on suburbia,'" Aukerman added. "But it's kind of the opposite of that. And now, of course, the other irony is that we all have suburban homes! And we're all like, 'Yeah, that's what we want.'"
  • This 1:40 punk rocker is part of Descendents' debut album, Milo Goes To College, and is one of their most popular songs. Milo (lead singer Milo Aukerman) did indeed go to college, and even earned a PhD eventually. The band took breaks from time to time so he could pursue his studies and his career. He says he has equal passion for music and biology.
