• Destiny's Child put a modern spin on the traditional carol "Twelve Days of Christmas" on "8 Days Of Christmas," the title track of their 2001 holiday album. Written by the R&B trio's Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland, along with the track's producer, Errol McCalla Jr, the song swaps the impractical gifts from the original tune with luxury items and small tokens of affection. Beyoncé takes the lead on the verses, crooning about her thoughtful boyfriend spoiling her with everything from a foot massage to a Mercedes.
• The song first appeared on the deluxe edition of the group's breakthrough album, The Writing's On The Wall, in 2000. According to Beyoncé, writing the song is what inspired the idea to record a whole Christmas album in a contemporary R&B style.
  
  "There hasn't been a Christmas album like this - it's kind of like a 2000 version of Motown Christmas," she said in a 2001 interview with MTV. "There's nothing traditional about the album, even with the traditional songs. We totally remade them, and we have some really different harmonies and arrangements."
• In the US, the single peaked at #57 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and #54 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
• The album reached its peak at #34 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart on December 22, 2001. It took a while for audiences to warm up to the wintry release, but it was eventually certified Platinum by the RIAA in 2020 for selling 1 million copies in the US.
• In the music video, directed by Sanaa Hamri (Mariah Carey's "Crybaby," Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass"), the girls dress up in sexy Santa suits and go on a shopping spree at a toy store. Meanwhile, Beyonce takes a break for a ride on a carousel. At the end, they give the toys away to a group of excited children. The little girl in the white coat who dances with Beyoncé is actress Cheyenne Haynes, who went on to land roles in House, Shameless, and Grey's Anatomy.
• Destiny's Child were at the top of their game when they issued The Writing's On The Wall, boasting the #1 hit singles "Say My Name" and "Bills, Bills, Bills," but there was a lot of turmoil going on behind the scenes. Two of the group's original members, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson, were trying to ditch Mathew Knowles as their manager due to his alleged favoritism towards his daughter Beyoncé and Rowland, and were shocked to learn they'd been replaced by Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams. Franklin didn't last long amid the stress, leaving Beyoncé, Rowland, and Williams as a trio. Luckett and Roberson filed a lawsuit against their former group and manager. By the end of 2000, they dropped their charges against Beyoncé and Rowland and agreed to a settlement with Knowles.
  
  The remaining members pressed on and issued another smash album, Survivor, in the spring of 2001, just a few months before 8 Days Of Christmas dropped.
• Shortly after releasing the Christmas album, Destiny's Child announced a hiatus so the members could pursue solo careers. They reunited for one more album, Destiny Fulfilled, in 2004 before calling it quits for good. In the interim, Williams released two gospel albums, Rowland collaborated with Nelly on the hit single "Dilemma," and Beyoncé burst forth with Dangerously In Love.
