  • Destiny's Child's sophomore album The Writing's on the Wall has a loose theme running through it of the failings of relationships. This groovy song finds Beyoncé confessing to her boyfriend that she hasn't been faithful to him.

    These aren't the words of someone who's especially sorry for her indiscretion.
  • The song was written by Missy Elliott specifically for Destiny's Child after they reached out to work together. Written by one female for four other females, it puts a different slant on a familiar topic.

    "It's funny when I think back on it because you rarely get women having to confess. It's always the guy who ends up having to confess," Elliott recalled to Billboard in a 2018 interview. "That was a different kind of twist for a female to be like, 'Look, I basically kicked it with Mike when you was gone, this went down and that went down.'"
