Songfacts®:

  • On this song, Dido is joined for a duet by Citizen Cope, a Brooklyn-based guitarist, DJ and keyboard player. Cope also co-wrote this song with Dido.
  • In this song, Dido confesses to burning love, in the sense that she sets her relationships on fire, torching the guys who care for her. From 1995-2002, she was with a lawyer named Bob Page; they were engaged but called off the wedding. Later, she took up with a record company executive named Ferdie Unger-Hamilton, but that didn't work out either. Dido ended up getting married to a screenwriter named Rohan Gavin in 2010, two years after this song was released.
  • "Burnin' Love" is a track from Dido's third album, Safe Trip Home. By this time, she had slowed her roll after a whirlwind start to her career that exploded when Eminem used her song "Thank You" in his 2000 hit "Stan" and cast her in the video. She stopped touring in 2005 after playing the Live 8 concert in London, so Safe Trip Home didn't get much promotion. It sold fairly well in her native UK but was little heard in America.
