Songfacts®:

  • This song is about drug addiction. But the "narrator" of the song is the drug. Like a controlling lover, the drug takes over the user's life until he doesn't even want to leave home. >>

  • Dido co-wrote the song with her brother Rollo of the electronic music group Faithless. She commented to Canada.com: "It's a dark love song that's actually about drug addiction. It's always creepy when people think it's a nice love song. It's like, 'Are you listening to this properly?! That's not nice, love!'"
  • Even though it didn't go further than #25 on the UK singles chart, the tune reached the top of the Airplay charts. This gave Dido the dubious honor of having a song at the top of the Airplay chart with the lowest singles chart position.
  • "Don't Leave Home" was originally a demo recorded for Dido's 1999 album No Angel that was instead included on her next album, Life for Rent, in 2003.

  • Miriam from Boston, MaI always adored this song. It's serious, with a very spooky edge to it, without being creepy. It's very orginal and unique, althrough given the fact that this IS Dido, perhaps that is a given.
