Songfacts®:

  • Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are a Belgian–Greek DJ duo comprising brothers Dimitri Thivaios and Michael Thivaios. This song's journey began with a bootleg by the siblings for their Ushuaïa Ibiza shows. Teaming up with Dutch DJ duo W&W, they transformed Dido's 1998 hit "Thank You" into a stadium-worthy anthem, electrifying crowds at their shows.

Then Dido herself stepped in. She re-recorded her vocals for the first verse of "Thank You" after her management saw the viral clips of the song on social media.
  • Several artists have sampled Dido's "Thank You" before. Most famously, Eminem used Dido's first verse as the hook in his 2000 single "Stan." That song was a huge hit and is considered one of Eminem's best cuts. It also boosted Dido's popularity in the US.

Sixteen years later, Dido was credited as a writer on Rihanna's Anti track "Never Ending" because of a similarity in its melody to "Thank You."
  • Released on December 1, 2023, "Thank You (Not So Bad)" debuted at #74 on the UK Singles chart dated February 11, 2024. It was Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike's second entry on the tally, following their 2014 collaboration with Martin Garrix, "Tremor (Sensation 2014 Anthem)," which peaked at #30.

It also became Dido's first song to place on the main UK singles chart since "No Freedom" reached #51 in 2013.
