  • DNCE was assembled by former Jonas Brother Joe Jonas in the summer of 2015. His bandmates are bassist and keyboardist Cole Whittle, who co-founded the band Semi Precious Weapons, South Korean bred guitarist JinJoo, who has played for the Jonas Brothers, Jordin Sparks, Charli XCX and CeeLo Green and drummer Jack Lawless, who was a member of the Jonas Brothers' backing band.
  • Asked by Client magazine about the writing process for the band, Joe Jonas replied: "The writing process is different every time. There's moments where I've written songs by myself for this upcoming album, there's been times where we've all been in the same room and collaborated and it's been just one guitar chord or a bass line and it kind of grows and grows until we have something that feels like it's unique, and then we get into the studio and try to put it together."
  • Wondering what happened to the missing "A" in DNCE? Speaking with iHeartRadio. Jonas said it describes the imperfectness of the quartet:

"There was a song that one day we were writing in the studio, and an idea for a song pretty much [came about] where you're too drunk to spell dance, but you still get down. That's where it started. It just kind of describes the imperfect awesome[ness] of the four of us together."
  • Speaking with TMRW magazine, Joe Jonas said the band's mission is to make people happy. "What we try and do is create stuff that'll put a smile on people's face, there's so much crazy stuff going on in the world these days," he said, "we like to be able to hopefully take you out of that and give you some happiness for the hour and half that we're playing."
  • Asked by You magazine what career he would have pursued had he not become a musician, Joe Jonas replied: "Working with animals, perhaps in a rescue center - I'm a big animal lover."
