Freedom Flotilla Song

Songfacts®:

  • This is a tribute song as well as a protest song, but one that should never have to have been written. On May 31, 2010, a flotilla of six ships carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza was attacked by the Israeli Navy. Commandoes abseiled down onto the lead ship Mavi Marmara murdering nine members in cold blood, including an American citizen.

The assault, murders, and subsequent brutal treatment of the activists - including many women - caused international outrage and led to worldwide protests and calls to boycott Israel.

"Freedom Flotilla Song" is not the first such protest song Palestinian surgeon Doc Jazz has written, and sadly it may not be the last. >>>
