Songfacts®:

  • This song is about the prevalence of fake news. Frontman Rob Damiani explained to Kerrang: "A huge amount of the elections that have shaped our world in recent years have been influenced by fake news. People are voting emotionally on topics that have been fabricated. It feels, in the digital age, like people have forgotten that you can't believe everything you read in the papers. I got in the headspace of trying to confront these people with this song. As soon as I got the angry vibe, it was a fun song to write."
  • The song's title derives from cockney rhyming slang. (A "pork pie" = "a lie").
