Songfacts®:

  • Co-written with Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, Donna Summer released this slow ballad in 1976, just after her breakthrough and as the disco train - a train she helped drive rather than ride - was coming into its own. One of her most acclaimed compositions, the radio edit that was released as a 7-inch single runs to 3 minutes 58 seconds, while the album version runs to a full six-and-a-half minutes.
  • In the UK, the single was backed by "Wasted", in the Netherlands by "Full Of Emptiness," and in Mexico by "Summer Fever". The album from which it is taken, Four Seasons Of Love is actually a concept album, and the song is thematic with that. Although the slowest track on the album, it was the most obvious single. >>>
