Songfacts®:

  • "Circadian Rhythm" was released by Drake as part of a surprise drop that includes two other tracks, "No Face" and "SOD." Originally dropped on his Instagram burner account on August 23, 2024, it was made available on streaming platforms a week later.
  • The title, "Circadian Rhythm," might sound like something out of a biology textbook, referring to the body's natural 24-hour cycle, but Drake turns it into a metaphor for his own endurance in the music industry. He details how the rap world has tried to bury him more times than he can count, yet he keeps springing back like a cat with nine lives. "How many funeral dates they plan for me and I dodged it like the truck," he raps, reminding everyone that he's still very much in the game.
  • Some fans are convinced the song is a veiled retort to Kendrick Lamar's Drake diss track "6:16 in LA," where K-Dot spits:

I know this type of power is gon' cost, but I live in circadian rhythms of a shooting star
  • "Circadian Rhythm" serves as a sequel to "The Language," a fan-favorite from Drake's 2013 album Nothing Was The Same. Both tracks have Drake musing over his place in the rap hierarchy and his tangled web of relationships. He nods to "The Language" in the new song's chorus with the line, "Ni---s don't speak my language," a direct echo of the original's hook.
  • Gordo, London Cyr, Ben10k, and Eli Brown are the producers. Gordo, the Guatemalan-American DJ and producer, is no stranger to working with Drake, having previously lent his skills to tracks like "Sticky," "Massive" and "Rich Baby Daddy."
