Songfacts®:

  • Here, Drake talks about some of his favored subjects such as his hard work, his talent as an entrepreneur and his place in the rap game. The song title, meanwhile, references another of his favorite topics - his love of beautiful women. That might not be obvious at first glance, so we'll explain. "Gyalchester" is a popular nickname for the Jamaican parish of Manchester. That area is known for having many attractive women, hence the replacement of "Man" with "Gyal" - the patois expression for "woman" or "girl." As Drake loves beautiful women, it makes sense that he would use it to name a song that doesn't mention the actual place at all in the lyrics.
  • The beat was supplied by Hungarian producer István Megyimorecz, better known by his stage name iBeatz. He has also worked with the likes of French Montana ("Whip It"), Fetty Wap ("Addicted") and 2 Chainz ("Neighborhood"), among others.
  • OVO affiliate Baka is credited with additional vocals.
